Volume 1 of Kangyur with two polychrome wood covers. The manuscript contains calligraphic verses inscribed in gold on blue/black ground paper. The wood covers are carved with a floral motif and their edges carved with small stupa and Tibetan script. Inside the covers, a red and gold Shakyamuni Buddha with robes seated on a lotus throne between two standing attendants. One holds a staff, the other a with a black and gold aura. All ties in brocade silk and held in place with an early derge iron lock with gold dorje motif.
