Amitayus Buddha

འཕགས་པ་ཚེ་དཔག་མེད་

Central red figure of Amitayus sitting on a multicolored lotus base set against a blue cushion background. He wears a multicolored dhoti and blue top shawl with swirling green scarves on his shoulders. His 5 tiara gold crown stands out from a red aureole. Lotus flowers and green leaf vegetation decorate the edge of the blue cushion. Courtly scenes are depicted in the lower right corner and two stupas with inscriptions are in the lower left corner. Jambala, a red Dakini, and anther protector deity are at the bottom center in the painting. The top portion of the painting has three small mandalas, the ones to right and left filled wit five standing buddhas each. Three small images of buddhas reside in the clouds depicted above the central deity. The palette of the painting is green in lower portions representing landscape and blue is used at the top to represent the sky. On the verso are lines of Tibetan writing in Uchen script. There are also inscriptions on the front of this painting.
