Two Arhats

Two Arhats depicted seated on a blue cushion with one seated on a red cushion. Each figure is depicted wearing flowing red, blue, and green robes. Both Arhats are making animated motions with their hands and half benevolent expressions. The Arhat to right holds a prayer staff. The painting composition consists of a stylized landscape background. Green is used to indicate land and the blue indicates the sky above. Sitting in the clouds at the top of the painting are five peaceful deities. They wear dhotis and flowing scarves. In the bottom portion, one finds an offering table, a rabbit, and two peacocks. Stylistically, this painting relates to 15th century Arhat paintings from Central Tibet.
