Bonpo Lama

བོནཔོའི་བླ་མ།

Framed tangka depicting a Lama with a red hat, possibly indicative of the Bonpo sect in Tibet. The reversed symbol in the front of his hat is typical of Bon symbolism. He wears flowing orange and yellow robes while sitting against a gold mandorla. He sits on a green and blue cushion. A small group of monks sit in reverence in the lower right corner next to gold dakini. In the clouds above reside two monks and a benevolent deity. Two snow lions peek out playfully from the throne below the lama.

Dimensions: 21" x 15"; framed 30" x 23 1/2"
