Mahakala

མགོན་པོ།/མ་ཧཱ་ཀཱ་ལ། ནག་པོ་ཆེན་པོ།

Mahakala in his gurgi-gompo form standing on a multi-colored lotus base holding kapala and kartrika in his two hands. He stands amidst a swirl of red and orange flames with a garuda in the top center of the flames. He wears a tiger skin and a garland of severed human skulls. The composition is very tantric in nature with many animated deities including hevajra, vajra yogini, palden lhamo, and Samvara. The figures are set against predominately green and blue background. The line drawing is very fine in this painting.
