Winged Bardo Deity

Winged Bardo Deity

Bardo deity of dark brown color with his blue shakti in cosmic embrace stepping to his right and trampling two prostrate human forms. His primary hands hold chopper and kapala and his other four arms hold other dharmapala implements. A unique rainbow aureole background frames the central deity with his outstretched blue wings protruding ino the ring of fire which emanates from the multi-colored lotus base. Two garudas dance playfully in a cave-like formation beneath the lotus base. Emanations of the central deity are found in each of the four corners of the painting. Numerous animal-headed figures from the realms of the bardo dance in groups about the palette of the painting which is predominately green. These figures make for a very lively painting.
