Previous Life Stories of Shakyamuni Buddha and Principle Students (Avadana) is a framed Eastern Tibetan tangka that was once part of a set of paintings describing life scenes of the Buddha. The utilization of space and landscape elements are typical of the Karma Gadri painting tradition in Tibet which started in the 16th century. The palette of this painting is very fresh with the colors of green, blue, and orange predominating.
