Black Hat Karmapa with Sharmapas

ཞྭ་ནག་པོའི་ཀརྨ་པ་དང་མཉག་དུ་ཞྭ་དམར་པ།

Framed tangka depicting one of the black hat Karmapas on a throne surrounded by three Sharmapas, Sakyamuni buddha, and a protector deity. The Karmapa holds his hands in the mudra of religious discourse while gazing into the distance with a focused look. He wears the normal black hat associated with his lineage while the Sharmapas are differentiated by their red hats. All of the images are delicately rendered with very sharp facial features. The robes are also very fluid and well formed. This painting would most likely have and eastern Tibetan provenance.

Dimensions: 20" x 16"; framed 25 3/4" x 22 1/2"
